“The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Consortium’s (UROC) Graduate College programs have enjoyed a long history of working with the Human Communications Studio (HCS). Our scholars have consistently provided positive feedback about their learning experiences with how to improve their communication skills. Specifically, the students not only learn how to incorporate physical techniques of voice and body positioning, they also employ critical thinking skills to evaluate their audience and strategize how they can best communicate their academic work. Learning to think strategically about their scientific communication clearly increases scholar confidence and we witness their improved skills during class activities and presentations. Our most recent program evaluations reflect a high satisfaction rate with the HCS workshop and video resources, ranking up to 83% “Extremely Satisfied or Very Satisfied” on a 100% scale. We look forward to our continued work with HCS.”

“Kathryn Kellner has the ability to identify weaknesses and strengths in others and guide them to improve their oral and presentation skills. She has excelled in developing a unique coaching technique where attendees can learn from a variety of strategies in order to improve their communication skills. In the last ten years, we have witnessed Kathryn’s work and that her authentic teaching style has an effective and positive impact on undergraduate and graduate students and colleagues. She always considers individuals’ culture and first language to effectively advise international groups. Our international populations have highly rated Kathryn’s work.”

“Kathryn Kellner has provided invaluable advice on how to conduct myself in front of an audience and in one-on-one professional interactions. I used to struggle with rejection and compromise in a professional environment. Kathryn was able to instruct me on how to position my body in such a way that remained professional but helped minimize the sense of confrontation that these situations often carried with them.”
