Exercise: PowerPoint and Horizontal

Part of the process of establishing your Given Circumstances is to be prepared for presenting on a particular stage or room setup.  Be sure to inquire about whether there is a lectern, podium, or technology station to one side of the display or the other so that you can prepare for presenting from a Horizontal positioning.

Remember that the further to the side that you are to the display or multiple displays, the more you will want to deliberately employ your Line Focus and Plane to draw and maintain focus. If you are using a lavalier or handheld mic that allows you to travel, you may also choose to move to the center of the presentation area in front of the display to draw focus. If you choose this movement, consider building in blank slides or moving forward in Plane to indicate that you are departing from your display partner to request all of the audience’s attention and then stepping back to indicate the renewed participation of your display as a presentation partner.
