Exercise: Movement and Gesture on a Video Call

Before you begin your virtual interactions be sure to turn on your camera and determine your screen frame. Remember that your positioning is what determines the level of your gestural placement. The closer you are to the camera the higher the level of your gesture placement. The positioning of your gesture at the upper chest, shoulder and head level takes practice.  Gesturing into the horizontal spaces on either side of your head takes practice.
Stretch your arms up and reach your hands to the sky.  Bend your elbows and Lower your arms so that your hands are level with your head.  This is a good starting position to begin practicing gesture for horizontal placement for a mid or head shot framing.
It is a good idea to warm up your body and stretch out your arms and hands before a video interaction to remind yourself that your body transmits engagement or disengagement through the camera lens.
